Otis Benjamin Dean

Otis Benjamin Dean, Senior, 96 of Independence passed away July 15, 2026. He was born December 25, 1929 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He is by his wife Mary Jane 75 and his son Benjamin Dean junior 15 and a grandson Ronnie Lee Dean junior five months.

Otis grew up in a migrant family following the fruit crops from Arkansas to Oregon. In his early 20s, he moved to Mcminnville where he worked in the dairy farms and married his wife Jane period from there they moved back and forth from the Northern California orange Groves to Eugene, where he spent 24 years working for Georgia Pacific plywood. He retired working for a farm irrigation company and Boardman OR.

Otis loved anything western, the old movies, Cowboys and rating western novels. He collected vintage cars, the collector's size and Hot Wheels. You could find him singing and playing old country music and country gospels in churches.

He is survived by two sons Benny Allen Dean, senior of Pendleton and Ronnie Lee Dean Senior of Aumsville. Three daughters Cynthia Gaynell Bright of Gold Beach, Cheryl Jean Rogers of Mesquite Nevada and Noami Jane Swann of Monmouth. He had 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.

No services are scheduled at this time he and his wife will be laid to rest at West lawn Memorial Park cemetery at a near date.
