Joan "Joni" Nancy Wood

Born to Frank Walter Wood & Mabel A (Beardsley) Wood in Salem, OR living most of her life in Dallas-Monmouth area was preceded in death of her son Michael Dean Ripley(17) Father, Mother, Sister Jane. Survived 1 brother, 1 sister, 3 children, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 1 in utero. Joni was an energetic, huge hugging, still working, whole heart loving sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a friend to all who knew her Suddenly died at Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis, OR from massive hemorrhagic CVA. She started her life with a farming family, got married at 15, started children and worked as waitress mostly her young life. College courses growing up and worked for many kinds of jobs including Praegitzer which turned into Tyco in Dallas, OR until they closed then Medical Assistant school (graduated) then decided to drive long haul trucking to see the USA. Last few years became home care worker with NWSD as she always cared for people up to her last day on earth. We will all miss her tremendously as she was the core to our complete family with all holidays being her best performance to enjoying fishing, camping, family get togethers and taught us all to end a goodbye with “I LOVE YOU”
Celebration of Life will be held on November 21st at 4:00 at the Star Duster Cafe in Independence.
