Donna Mae Day

April 12, 1935 — April 26, 2026

Donna Mae Day, age 91, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026, in Vancouver, Washington, surrounded by the love and warmth of her family.

Born on April 12, 1935, in Manchester, Wisconsin, Donna was the daughter of Fred Steven Wood and Ethel Ivy Mae Wood. At a young age, she moved with her family to Washington, where she attended grade school in Washougal. A dedicated and exceptionally hard worker, Donna began working at the early age of 16. Over the years, she held various roles, including positions in warehouse manufacturing, housekeeping, and as a talented seamstress.

In December 2000, Donna married her devoted husband, Richard Day. Together, they shared a beautiful life filled with travel and adventure. They loved taking spontaneous trips to Long Beach, Washington, always making sure to stop for a warm cinnamon roll and a visit to Chico's for her favorite outfits. The couple also created unforgettable memories during their trips to the charming town of Leavenworth, Washington, as well as on sunny getaways to Cabo San Lucas, Hawaii, and Florida.

Donna was a Christian woman whose faith in God was deeply personal and sincere. She is remembered by all who knew her as youthful, sharp, witty, stylish, and impeccably well-kept. She loved her family dearly and found so much joy in their company, often sharing hearty laughs over their playful antics. She was an amazing cook who took joy in feeding the people she loved, and she had a well-known fondness for See's Candies. Above all, Donna was defined by her loving nature. She was a constant source of support for her family and wanted to be remembered as a loving mother, wife, and grandmother.

She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Day; her children and their spouses, Robert Tarter Jr. (Susan), Peggy Reynolds (Joe), Gary Tarter (Reyna), and Jerry Tarter (Yolanda). She leaves behind a beautiful legacy in her grandchildren, Michelle Sullivan (Shawn), Lori Anderson (Robert), Michael Reynolds Jr. (Elvia), Matthew Reynolds (Yaneli), Mackenzie Tran-Dai (Nicholas), Bradley Tarter (Kayla), Jerry Tarter Jr., and Tiffney Tarter, and her great-grandchildren: Logan, Caleb, Wyatt, Brayden, Seline, Michael III, Ava, Evelene, Madison, Madeline and Penelope.

Donna's kindness, bright spirit, and the deep love she had for her family will be cherished and missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her
