Daniel Theodore Erwinski
February 16, 1949 – July 10, 2022
Dan peacefully passed away on July 10th, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on February 16, 1949, in Paterson, New Jersey to the late Theodore and Helen Erwinski. He had two siblings that also preceded him in death, Thomas, and Carol (Leto). He proudly served in the Navy from 1968-1972 on a submarine as a torpedo man and earned his Dolphins.
On September 11th, 1976, Dan married the love of his life Sally (Vreeland). They moved to Oregon shortly after where Dan worked as an electrician at the Oregon State Penitentiary, and in the Salem/Keizer school district. All dogs loved Dan and Dan loved all dogs. He trained several field trial champion black labs as a hobby.
He retired in 2008 and enjoyed tinkering around on his property, traveling to the coast, and taking care of his beloved farm animals. He adopted a black lab named Molly and they became inseparable friends. In later years, he really enjoyed online shopping and spending absurd amounts of time in the grocery store on his hover round. He liked to watch sports and had a deep love for the New York Rangers, Oregon State Beavers, and Seattle SeaHawks.
Above all, Dan loved his family. He is survived by his wife: Sally, son: Luke, daughter: Amelia (Robert Walborn), two grandkids: Eli and Eve, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Ken and Gwen Banks, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews in Oregon and on the East coast. Bah Humbug.
Dan was laid to rest at Hilltop Cemetery, Independence. Farnstrom Mortuary is caring for the family. Memories and condolences may be shared at FarnstromMortuary.com.
