Beryl Mansfield Green passed away at his home in Monmouth, Oregon on October 19th, 2025. He was 95 years old.
Beryl was born on St. Patricks day, March 17th, 1930 in Bluit, New Mexico. His parents were Bernice Mansfield Green and Francis Mae Green.
Beryl grew up on a homestead/ sustenance farm as the youngest of eight children. He grew up during the Great Depression and Dust Bowl eras and was no stranger to hard work.
After his high school years, Beryl joined the Navy. He trained to be an aircraft electrician and was aboard a carrier in the Korean War. While in the Navy, he married LaVerne Crume. The two of them met in high school and raised three children: Beryl Dwayne (Sandy), Karen Diane (deceased 2003) and Kerry Jay (Judy Morris-Green). They also had four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
LaVerne passed away just nine months before Beryl. They were married 73 years.
After the Navy, Beryl finished a Bachelors degree in Mathematics at Eastern New Mexico University. He also worked as a systems analyst at McDonald-Douglas aircraft in California.
Eventually he settled into teaching and finished a Doctorate degree in Mathematics. Beryl was a Professor at OCE in Monmouth, Oregon for thirty years. He retired in 1988. Beryl was retired an amazing 37 years that allowed him to enjoy his hobbies of gardening, fishing and family.
Beryl was a man of faith and was a long time member at the Independence Baptist Church.
We will always miss him for his sense of humor and endless stories.
A memorial service is scheduled for November 13th, 2025 at Farnstrom Mortuary, Independence Oregon at 3:00 PM.
A private Interment will be on November 13th, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Willamette National Cemetery in Happy Valley, Oregon.
