Ben Alan McCullough, 73, of Dallas Oregon, passed away on April 25, 2023. Ben was born on February 16, 1950 to Milton and Marie McCullough in Salem, Oregon. He attended Dallas High School, graduating in 1968.
After graduation, he joined the Marine Corps and served a tour of duty in Vietnam as a tank driver. Ben had a career as a Millwright, Journeyman Electrician and Purchasing Agent for Smurfit Mill in Philomath for 26 years. After the closure of the mill, he ended his career as a cemetery groundskeeper and retired in 2012.
Ben’s hobbies included camping, fishing, classic cars, 50s & 60s music, photography, carpentry and playing with his grandchildren. He would tease them with tales of coyotes and wendigos while camping, and instigating games of Giant Jenga during family get togethers.
Ben was predeceased by parents Milton and Marie McCullough and brother Jerry McCullough. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Deborah McCullough; his three children, son Scott McCullough and his wife Nancy; son Shayne McCullough and his wife Amy; daughter Kimberly McCullough; his 13 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.
Services will be held at Farnstrom’s Mortuary, 410 Monmouth St in Independence, OR, on May 3rd at 1 pm. Celebration of Life will be held at the Dallas Event Center, 939 Main St in Dallas, OR, on May 3rd between 3-5 pm.
