We Honor Veterans Community Partner
We Honor Veterans is a program of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to help improve the care Veterans receive.
Originally designed for hospice providers, We Honor Veterans extended its partner opportunities to other community-based health care organizations, such as funeral homes, hospitals, assisted living facilities, and home health agencies.
As a We Honor Veterans Community Partner, Farnstrom Mortuary is committed to providing quality services to veterans and their families and to expanding community awareness of the unique needs of veterans and benefits available to them. We will strive to always do our best to ensure that happens.
For inquiries regarding VA benefits and the We Honor Veterans program, please call (503) 838-1414 and ask to speak to a funeral director. It is our desire to assist you in every way possible.
Military Funeral Honors
The basic Military Funeral Honors (MFH) ceremony consists of the folding and presentation of the United States flag to the veterans' family and the playing of Taps.
A United States flag is provided, at no cost, to drape the casket or accompany the urn of a deceased veteran who served honorably in the U. S. Armed Forces.
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) furnishes upon request, at no charge to the applicant, a Government headstone or marker for the unmarked grave of any deceased eligible veteran in any cemetery around the world, regardless of their date of death.
